Position for a Ph.D. candidate in metal-free catalysis associated with the Canada Research Chair in Green Catalysis and Metal-Free Processes
A Ph.D. candidate position is currently available at Université Laval (Quebec City) in the group of Frédéric-Georges Fontaine. The candidate is expected to start either in May or September 2019. The position will stay opened until filled.
For the current position, we are seeking a talented synthetic chemist familiar with main group, organometallic and/or organic chemistry. All projects are oriented toward the development of metal-free catalysts for organic transformations.
A working knowledge of air-sensitive chemistry (Schlenk and glovebox techniques), main group and organic chemistry, of typical characterization techniques (NMR) and of DFT are significant assets. We are looking for a creative and independent person having a good experience in research.
Université Laval is located in beautiful Quebec City and is the oldest center of higher education in Canada. Candidates should know that although Université Laval is officially a French speaking university, graduate courses can be taken in English starting Fall 2019 and all the other requirements for the Ph.D. program (thesis, seminars, etc.) can also be done in English.
